Bow-Beautiful book bag

Browsing a local store the other day, I found the most beautiful book bags, and although they were cheap enough, I decided I just had to make one. The original ones I found were made of a heavy linen-type material... I decided to go a little lighter with just a sturdy cotton, lined with calico.

I added a flower motif on the front, plus a ribbon bow, just for accent. :)

And the handles..

Quite proud of my little book bag! :D

Not too girly

My husband is studying at university, starting this semester. Amongst his supply-hunting at Officeworks, he was looking for a good pencil case, but he was annoyed to see that all the pencil cases were too "girly" for his liking. In desperation he asked if I'd make him one at home. I think he expected a simple little case with a zip ... but this is what he ended up with!

I bought 2 meters of zipper from Spotlight, and sewn continuously around itself provides this barrel-like pencil case! Combined with the bright green cotton to close off the ends, it contains no hint of "girly." :P

If undone, it simply ends up being one _really long_ zipper. Pretty cool, huh?

And totally undone...

I never get tired of pulling this thing apart and back together again ... it almost defies the purpose of a zipper. ^_^ So I'll leave you with the reconstruction. :)

Copy cat

Well, following on from my last post, I loved the design so much that I just had to make another. All features are the same except colours of course. This little one was made specially for a friend. :)

Back again...

Hi-de-ho to any and all of you. As is my style, I've been off my blog for quite some time. I seem to have little time for sewing these days, between a full work schedule and a large project I have on order. But today I was determined to sew something nice for myself (for once)! So here it is.... :)

Somewhere as a cross between a cosmetic pouch and an iPod case, this is my new little carry-all. It's perfect for my phone (iPhones being rather large, esp with a silicone case), plus earphones, cash, keys, etc.

I couldn't go past my totally _favourite_ colour: purple! And with embellishments such as a spring-themed ribbon, and the gorgeous purple button, it's adorably sweet and girly.

A Mario-mushroom charm from the zipper...

And my design label :)

Made from stretch cotton and lined with white felt, this little case is protective, cute, and durable.

I won't currently be selling these in my shop, as I'm far too busy to take any orders. But please contact me if you like this for a future sale. :)

I'm happy announce the opening of my second shop - sweetiPod Stationery. I'm slowly adding new items, so please stop by, and give something a try! You'll find some super cute Mini Envelopes, Handmade books, and other stuff to come! And all requests are welcome. :)

Christmas is upon us...

I was told the other day that it's bad luck to set up your tree before Dec 1 ... that never seemed to stop all the shop owners however! It seems, come Oct, and everyone's in the Christmas rush!

Well, I've never been a Christmasy person, but entering a large family you tend to come to appreciate it a little more. A time for giving, loving, and being more concerned to find that special present for someone rather than what you'll get in return. But then, there's always a catch... the cost!

I decided to start my Christmas shopping now, rather than a week before Christmas like last year. And where better to start shopping than etsy? This is where I started...

ToonDesign is an amazing shop I found on my search for affordable clutches and wallets. I honestly don't feel it justified to spend $50+ on a clutch! I'm sorry, it's just not practical. But stop by ToonDesign's shop, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I was able to snatch up some adorable mini-clutches for only $7 each! And $12 for the regular size. And if you're quick, you'll catch her Buy 3, get 1 free sale!! I didn't even realise until she told me I got a 4th for free - you should have seen my excitement! lol.
